Saliva is your built-in defense system. Sipping is the trap. A can of soda downed in five minutes is one acid attack. That same can babied at your desk over two hours is a near-continuous one. If you’re going to drink something sugary or acidic, drink it reasonably fast, use a straw to route it past your front teeth, and rinse with plain water afterward. Water is the only drink that’s genuinely neutral for your teeth.
